If You Like All 50 Shades OF Black, Wednesdaycore Courtesy Wednesday Addams Is Made For You https://ift.tt/7an5fHW

80 years ago, Wednesday Addams and the rest of the Addams family entered our lives through The New Yorker, when illustrator Charles Addams introduced us to this morbid family. Ever since, through different mediums like television, cartoon and films, this anarchic family has served as the perfect repellent to the white-picket-fence-loving-happy-family narrative we are constantly fed. The latest Netflix adaptation by Tim Burton in true Burtonesque form, Wednesday , focuses on Morticia and Gomez’s dead-souled daughter, as she navigates her way at Nevermore —a school for outcasts. Even between gangs of vampires, werewolves and sirens—Wednesday, played by the talented Jenna Ortega, manages to be a pariah and enjoys every bit of it. While Tim kept most of Wednesday’s classic attributes like the death stare, poker face and general disdain for emotions intact, there was an almost natural evolution in the way she looked. Tim’s Wednesday is a Gen Z, she hates technology (which is odd for t...

Those were tumultuous times and it’s during this time that art can play a catalyst of sorts- assimilating emotions and allowing for them to come alive. Closely held beliefs found voices and this is what Around the Table: Conversations about Milestones, Memories, Mappings showcases. This is a recollection of times and practices of a generation of artists who shaped the landscape of art in post-Independence India. Krishen Khanna; Ramu ka Dhaba, 1979. Oil on canvas; Collection and image courtesy: Kiran Nadar Museum of Art. The artists played critical roles in many capacities – as individuals, as collectives and as fellows -responding dynamically to the emerging demands of a young nation. The cities of Bombay and Delhi were the hotbed of expanding mindsets, the spirit of cosmopolitanism weaved in. Places like Baroda turned into testing grounds for art-institutional experiments, t...
