Sure, this might be a painting with broad strokes, but BTS ‘ V aka Kim Taehyung’s fashion game, is always mood board-worthy. V is popularly known for his incredible vocal skill and undeniable rizz. His tunes have a longingness–they feel like a warm hug on a bad day. And his style approach is versatile yet steady. It’s evident that he doesn’t strive too hard; rather, his natural sense of style and personality are apparent.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by V (@thv) Initially, his outfits consisted of a lot of bright, colourful, and bold takes, but as his music and BTS ‘ discography evolved, we noticed a big shift in his dressing style. Recently, he has been on a dark academic journey, with his looks quite apt for his love of soft jazz and old-school music, reflecting his debut album Layover . With his sinful voice and stunning visual appeal, he has captured the hearts of some of the biggest luxury labels. This year, in March 2023

From ‘Super Shy’ To ‘Like Crazy, Here Are The Top 10 K-pop Songs Of 2023 https://ift.tt/s2SvBel

K-pop had a moment in 2023 with long-awaited solo debuts and big groups dropping multiple new albums. BTS members made some of the grooviest music as they kept dropping new solo singles left and right, maintaining their hit streak. And let’s not forget the girl groups responsible for the recent K-pop surge on social media. Every reel we scrolled on Instagram was blasting with Fifty Fifty’s Cupid or Jung Kook’s Seven . What makes K-pop numbers so popular is that you never really know what you’re going to expect; it might be a nightclub banger, a viral city bop, or an early 2000s-inspired tune taking you back in time. If we look at the numbers, this year’s sales titan is Seventeen’s biggest summer banger, Super  as well as formidable chart-toppers like NewJeans’ Super Shy and Jisoo’s Flower . Apart from our playlist, the stadiums were packed with concerts by SUGA of BTS , TWICE, BLACKPINK, and other K-pop tours globally. As we look forward to more catchy numbers in 2024, let’s

5 Queer Artists On Our Radar In 2024 https://ift.tt/7qghCS9

In the early stages of modern history, queer individuals faced oppression and marginalisation, leading to a lack of visibility in mainstream art and culture. However, despite these obstacles, some artists subtly conveyed queer themes through coded symbolism and subtext. For instance, during the Renaissance, artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo subtly incorporated homoerotic themes into their works, providing a glimpse into a hidden world of queer expression. The 20th century witnessed a significant shift; the emergence of the LGBTQ+ rights movement prompted artists to address queer themes more overtly. This period saw the rise of queer literature, theatre, and visual arts, with figures like Virginia Woolf, Tennessee Williams, and Frida Kahlo challenging societal norms and contributing to a growing queer cultural identity. The Stonewall Riots of 1969 marked a pivotal moment in the history of queer expression and fueled a surge of artistic activism. The AIDS crisis of the 1

ELLECyclopedia: Here’s How The Sadhana Cut Trickled Into The Indian Mainstream Because Of A Yesteryear Actress https://ift.tt/qwnrAFG

Image
My 80-year-old grandpa geeks out on old Bollywood movies like it’s nobody’s business and thus, my introduction to Rafi and Dev Anand was at the mere age of 7 or 8. Out of the roster of actresses he’d witter about continuously, Sadhana particularly stood out. Reason: the fun backstory behind her then haircut, Audrey Hepburn and the hairstyle we now refer to as bangs, or fringes. Sadhana Shivdasani, now mononymously known as Sadhana, single-handedly championed a beauty revolution she wasn’t aware she was a part of. Thus ensued the barrage of young girls and women vying to imitate that hairstyle, which to this day, is known as the Sadhana cut. A History Lesson Image Via Pinterest At first, Sadhana remained iffy about getting an Audrey Hepburn-inspired fringe since she didn’t think an Indian girl could pull it off. A cursory examination of the background and tidbits regarding the iconic hairdo reveals that her husband, RK Nayyar, an acclaimed director at the time, really proposed it.
